How to Make Matcha Tea 🍵✨

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon matcha powder
2 ounces (60ml) hot water (about 175°F / 80°C)
Optional: 6 ounces (180ml) warm milk (for a latte)
Optional: Honey or sweetener (to taste)

Equipment:

Matcha whisk (chasen) or a small milk frother
Small sifter (optional, helps prevent clumps)
Ceramic or glass bowl
Spoon

Instructions

1. Sift the Matcha

Place 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl using a sifter. This helps remove clumps for a smoother tea.

2. Add Hot Water

Heat water to about 175°F (80°C). (Avoid boiling water as it makes matcha bitter.)

Pour 2 ounces (60ml) of hot water into the bowl with matcha.

3. Whisk Until Frothy

Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small milk frother to whisk the matcha in a zigzag (M or W motion) until it becomes frothy and smooth. This takes about 15-20 seconds.

4. (Optional) Make a Matcha Latte

If making a latte, heat 6 ounces (180ml) of milk until warm and frothy. Pour over the whisked matcha.

5. Sweeten (Optional)

Add honey, agave, or your preferred sweetener to taste.

6. Enjoy!
