With years of iced tea brewing experience, we’ve learned a few tricks to get it just right — and now we’re sharing everything we know so you can enjoy the perfect iced tea at home!
We have two favorite methods for making iced tea: our Classic Method and the Cold Brew Method.
This method uses our Cold Brew collection. It’s quick and easy: simply add a Cold Brew tea bag to chilled water and let it steep for about 10 minutes, or until it reaches your desired flavor. Remove the tea bag, and your iced tea is ready to enjoy — couldn’t be simpler!
Our classic method works with any of our blends — black, green, fruit, or herbal tisanes — and can be made with tea bags or loose leaf. You can brew a small jug for yourself, enough to share, or make a large batch to keep in the fridge throughout the week.
Note: Our instructions below use a Well Tea Teamaker but don’t worry if you don’t have these tools — a regular teapot works just fine too.
For iced tea with strong, vibrant flavor, think of it like making a cordial: brew an extra-strong tea concentrate first, then add ice while keeping the full flavor intact.
Customize and experiment with your own blends! Try adding fruit tisanes to black tea, or herbal blends to green tea — the flavor combinations are endless.
For fruit tisanes, you can brew them longer for an even stronger brew.
• For a stronger iced tea, try 3–4 teaspoons of tea.
• Stick to the suggested water temperature to bring out the tea’s best flavors without bitterness: black teas, herbal, and fruit tisanes at 100°C, green and white teas at 80°C.
• Make sure your brew tools are heat-proof — the Teamaker is perfectly safe for boiling water.
• Check the back of your tea box for specific brew times and temperatures.
• Green, black, and oolong teas are sensitive (usually 2–5 minutes) — over-brewing can make them bitter, so a timer is your friend.
• Fruit tisanes are more forgiving (3+ minutes) since their flavor develops from herbs and fruits over time.
• The Teamaker’s clever design cools the tea as it flows, and the ice instantly brings it to the perfect temperature.
• For a stronger flavor, let the tea cool slightly in the Teamaker before adding ice — this prevents dilution and intensifies the taste.
• Start simple with a slice of lemon, then experiment with berries, citrus, or even tapioca pearls for a boba-style twist.

While every tea can be enjoyed iced, some blends shine particularly well when chilled:
Black Tea: Bold and full-bodied, black tea softens beautifully when iced. It pairs wonderfully with sweet fruits and garnishes, making it a classic choice.
Fruit Tisanes: These are our most flavor-forward blends, bursting with fruit and dessert-inspired tastes. Perfect for kids and a delicious alternative to sugary soft drinks.
Green Tea: Light and naturally slightly sweet, green tea is refreshing and crisp — an ideal choice for a lighter iced tea.
For iced black tea, we love Assam — bold, malty, and slightly sweet. A squeeze of lemon enhances its rich malty notes.
Gorgeous Geisha Iced is a luscious green tea infused with strawberries, giving a naturally sweet, fruity flavor. Since it’s already infused, no garnish is needed, making it extra convenient.
Packs A Peach is a favorite for iced tea — sweet and juicy, it pairs beautifully with fresh peach slices and a sprig of mint.
Always keep iced tea chilled in the fridge. Use tightly sealed jugs or jars to prevent it from absorbing odors or flavors from other foods.
Fruits, garnishes, and sweeteners can reduce shelf life. Add these only to individual glasses or to a pitcher that will be consumed within a day.
