Description
Many of today’s dedicated tea drinkers will be familiar with Redbush. What they may be interested to know is that Redbush has its roots in the tea plantations of South Africa where it is more familiarly known as Rooibos tea.
Useful Information
Type of Tea: Loose Leaf Rooibos
Origin: The Cederberg Region, South Africa.
Colour in Cup: Ruby colour, dark in tone.
Tasting Notes: Red Bush tea is widely recognised for its rich earthy flavours with slight woody and nutty undertones.
The term Rooibos comes from the Afrikaans language and means Red Bush. It is grown in the Cederberg Region of South Africa where it has been enjoyed by the Khoisan tribes for hundreds of years. Also referred to as Bush tea or Red tea.
Rooibos Tea is actually a herb from the Aspalathus Linearis plant rather than the Camellia Sinensis plant, meaning it is not technically a tea at all.
Brewing Instructions: Brew using freshly boiled water and infuse for 5 to 10 minutes.
How to Serve: Rooibos tea is, without a doubt, a truly delicious and refreshing blend consumed as it is. If you prefer to add some extra flavour, however, consider using lemon or honey for a sweeter and bolder taste.
