Taiwanese oolong teas are renowned for their dark colour yet deeply ripe aroma, with hints of raisin and autumn leaves. The name Formosa for Taiwanese teas means ‘beautiful’, and you’ll understand why after breathing in the delightful aroma and soothing sensations after supping on a cup. With its rich flavor that lingers and smooth astringency with subtle fruity taste, our Taiwanese Formosa Tea provides the perfect introduction to tea from the country.
Taiwan is now recognized by tea connoisseurs globally for producing some of the finest oolong tea leaves around. The quality of their oolong tea leaves is believed to be due to the near perfect growing conditions surrounding the Taiwanese mountains and Taiwan’s innovative tea growing methods. Oolong Formosa is an umbrella name for all Taiwanese teas, and this tea is our signature Taiwanese Formosa Tea carefully selected from the country’s numerous plantations.
Our Taiwanese Formosa Tea is also classed as a specialty tea, with it going through a specific fermentation process after the tea is plucked. After harvesting, the leaves are fermented to close to 50 percent before being put in baskets made of bamboo. These are then placed in the sun to curl and wilt to help develop their aroma and taste when placed in a cup with boiling water. It takes a mere 2-3 minutes to brew but will provide a sense of refreshment and relaxation that stretches long into the afternoon.
